Used Forklift Parts
Unavoidably, lift truck parts will eventually wear out and need replacing. The option of purchasing new parts can become pricey so another idea is to acquire used components. This could save much money in the end. It is a great idea to acquire used lift truck components that have been remanufactured. These parts would ensure that you are getting components that will work for a long time and be productive.
Remanufacturing broken and worn out parts is a more cost effective method in general as opposed to rebuilding. With rebuilding parts, just the parts which are broken or worn out get changed, which means that other wearable components might break down soon after acquisition.
Remanufacturing however provides the best assurance for second-hand parts. Remanufactured parts are taken apart and cleaned and then all wearable pieces are replaced. All wearable components are replaced regardless of age or wear which is another rationale why reproduced components on the whole function so much better. Any part within the part is new and this offers much longer life to the second-hand part. Based on the lift truck components that are being redone, the cleaning process and the complete remanufacturing process will vary.
After complete disassembly, the engines are oven cleaned. Different components of the engine such as spark plugs, pistons, rings, valves, valve springs, and filters can be replaced during the remanufacture process. The engines are hot tested after reassembly to guarantee that there are no oil pressure problems, no leaks, noises or any vacuum.
Transmissions are oven cleaned, pressure washed, and disassembled. A comprehensive inspection is performed so as to check for any cracks. Bushings, seals and bearings are all replaced. Usually, the replacement parts used on transmission parts meet OEM specifications.
A few components like for instance torque converters, the alternator, the water pump, steer axles and the starter can acquire longer serviceability after being reproduced and having all wearable components replaced. The electronic control in the electric lift truck is maintained by the control card. This particular card can also be reproduced with replacing all aged and worn out parts. Not like other lift truck parts the control card can only have the worn and aged parts replaced.
Components which are reproduced have to be thoroughly inspected upon reassembly to ensure they are in good condition previous to being sold. When obtaining these parts, it is a good idea to be sure that they have undergone all of the proper testing and inspections. On certain bigger parts like for instance steer axles, engines and transmissions, OEM specification replacement parts must be used.
