Founded in Portland, Oregon in the year 1943, the Cascade Manufacturing Company began as a small machine shop hiring just four individuals. Total sales for that initial year amounted to about $60,000. The first recorded sales revenues involved the assembly and machining of stainless-steel valves, pipe fittings and other parts. Through five years of operation, the business had stretched to forty staff and their annual sales volume had risen to three hundred thirty thousand dollars. Today, Cascade is one of the top worldwide manufacturers within the material handling industry.

Production and design of the company's initial hydraulic cylinder paved the way in Cascade's aggressive quest of new business opportunities. Over the last 60 years, the material handling business has developed into a very complex area and Cascade has proudly played a part on this growth. Cascade at present continues to develop as the best supplier of lift truck attachments and different associated items. The company feels confident in their ability in order to continue to lead the way in the business by understanding client's requirements in the future and remaining aggressive in the world market.

During the nineteen fifties, Cascade started to manufacture, design, and advertise its hydraulic attachments. A new facility was built in the year 1956, in order to house all of the plant offices and operations in Portland, Oregon, which continues to be the company's present center of operations. Following 15 years of business, total workers reached a hundred and eighty employees and sales had reached almost two million three hundred thousand dollars.

In the year 1959 in Springfield, Ohio the next manufacturing plant was built. nineteen sixty marked Cascade's initial move into the global world of the material handling industry while the company established interest in Australia, the Netherlands and England.

In 1964, the company altered its name to the Cascade Corporation. Then in 1965, the business went public with an initial offering of two hundred thousand shares of common stock. Since then the company has expanded its manufacturing amenities within the continental USA to the locations Warner Robins Georgia to go along with its already current plants in Springfield, Ohio and Portland, Oregon. Cascade merchandise are made globally because of many subsidiary operations. In 1994, a new plant was completed in Almere, the Netherlands which is Cascade's European control center. This plant is made to be the ultimate customer support centre.

Cascade further expanded their product base in 1996 and the year 1997 after acquiring five firms, which included the Kenhar Corporation, the global best in forks.
